Shenzhen is a city of sub-provincial administration status in Guangdong province, situated immediately north of Hongkong. Owing to China’s economic liberalization under the policies of reformist leader DengXiaoping, the area became China’s first and arguable one of the most successful Special Economic Zones.
Shenzhen has six Municipal Administrative Districts, they are Futian District, Luohu District, Nanshan District, Yantian District, Bao’an District and Longgang District, and four functional areas, Guangming New District and Longhua New District(both subordinate to Bao’an District), Pingshan New District and Dapeng New District(both subordinate to Longgang District).
